Finding time to pause, reflect and give thanks…

Dear Friend

Here at Focus on the Family Africa, a glance back at the months that have already passed this year reflects a staff and ministry that has continued to stand in the gap for families, and worked tirelessly to uphold and strengthen the fabric of family-life. So as you read this Newsletter, join us in finding time to pause, reflect and give thanks for all the Lord has done this year.

Highlights of the year included welcoming Focus President and CEO Mr Jim Daly, accompanied by Mr Glenn Williams COO, who blessed us with their presence at our annual Friend and Fundraising dinner held at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban. Mr Jim Daly was the keynote speaker.

In August, we acknowledged the first anniversary of the launch of The Truth Project, and have witnessed the passion and the zeal with which attendees have caught the vision and strategy of this Biblical Worldview curriculum. As small Truth Project groups spring up all over the country, Focus Africa crossed its borders and took The Truth Project into Tanzania.

The Focus radio broadcasts swell the African airwaves daily, bringing hope and enlightenment, laughter and tears to millions of people in homes and offices across the continent.

Similarly, our Outreach Programmes, particularly Parenting with Assurance and No Apologies, continue to be called upon by schools and communities, bringing hope to young parents and a strong message of selfworth and self-esteem to our youth.

Our great friends Rob and Dianne Parsons from Care for the Family (UK) presented what have now become popular seminars, The Heart of Success and The 21st Century Parent to families facing the challenges and rewards of parenting, as well as helping families maintain a healthy balance between work and home life. They will be back again next year.

Focus resources, books and DVD’s, broadcast CDs, the online bookstore, subscription magazines for children and the November launch of Focus’ Thriving Family Subscription Magazine…. as you can see, there is much to tell you about. The 2009 Focus Christmas Catalogue is ready to help you to choose trustworthy and reliable gifts for your loved ones, and was designed and created specifically with you in mind.

We thank you for your continued financial support, intercessory prayers and encouragement. Thank you for finding time to pause, reflect and give thanks to God…for the gift of His son, Christ the Lord!
Warm Christmas wishes to you and to your loved ones!

Dr Amon Kasambala
Chief Executive Officer

"As far as the East is from the West..." is not a completely accurate description of where the Truth Project has journeyed since August 2008, but rather from Empangeni in the East, to Cape Town in the West, East London in the South, to Pretoria in the North, it continues to multiply.

In Luke 16, we read the story of the Prodigal Son. Listeners encountered the reality of the story through Focus broadcasts that encouraged them to share their own heartache... [read more]
